Upcountry Tamil youth arrested in Matale

Ratota Police Thursday arrested an upcountry Tamil youth, a resident of Pitakantha estate in Matale district on receipt of information that he has connection with the LTTE, media sources said.
The police further said they recovered a bomb concealed by the suspect following his arrest. Meanwhile, three upcountry Tamil civilians of the eighteen arrested by the police last week in a cordon and search operation are being still being detained in Haputale police station. The police had released 15 workers without any condition, media sources said. All were arrested at Haputale police checkpoint when they were proceeding to their estates for work despite showing their national identity cards, sources said. One from Viharagale estate and the other seventeen are residents of Thangamalai estate.
