Polling cards for postal voting prepared for east elections

Packing of postal voting cards for the forthcoming Batticaloa District elections were completed Friday morning at Batticaloa District Secretariat, and the parcels were handed over to the Deputy Superintendent of Postal services for Batticaloa district, Mr.Krisnananthalingam Batticaloa district Assistant Commissioner of Elections told Tamil Net.
The voting cards were dispatched to the various regions in the same afternoon. Out of the total number of 339,000 voters in the district, 4865 voters were eligible to cast their votes by post. However, the applications of 438 were rejected, resulting in only 4427 becoming eligible to vote through mail. The details of the number of voters from the various electorates in Batticaloa district eligible to cast postal votes follow:
- Kalkudaa 821
- Batticaloa 2676
- Paddiruppu 930
The postal voting is scheduled to take place on April 28th and 29th.
