Ganesan meets with Danish diplomats on Rights issues

Mano Ganesan, Leader of Western People’s Front and Convener of Civil Monitoring Commission (CMC) met with Deputy Head of Mission at the Danish Embassy Danny Annan and Human Rights Ambassador, Hans Grunnet, Tuesday evening in Colombo and discussed matters related to human rights and political situation in Sri Lanka, a media release issued by Ganesan's office said. Mr Ganesan's personal security issues and the recent exit from Sri Lanka of the group of International Independent Group of Eminent Persons (IIGEP) were also discussed in the meeting.

Danish foreign minister’s personal representative and human rights ambassador Hans Grunnet and deputy head of mission of the royal Danish embassy Danny Annan met Western Peoples Front Leader and Civil Monitoring Commission Convener Mano Ganesan MP today evening (22nd April) at the Danish consulate in Colombo, Media communique issued from Ganesan’s office said.

Discussions centered on the prevailing human rights and political conditions in the country. CMC Convener Mano Ganesan told the diplomats that now the government appears to be caught in between the deplorable abuse reality and subsequent international reactions. The withdrawal of IIGEP is a natural outcome of the reality. It has bought end to the last functioning institutional international activity in the subject of human rights in Sri Lanka.

The issue of the personal security of Ganesan was also discussed at the meeting.
