SLMC headquarters searched by Police in Colombo

The headquarters of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) located in Colombo was searched by the police Wednesday afternoon. Officer-in-Charge of the Fort Police Station, Jayaratne Manamperi told media persons that the SLMC headquarters had been searched on receipt of information that a member of the underworld criminal gang operating from Slave Island was hiding there.
Fort Police further said when they went to the site only they came only knew that the building was the SLMC headquarters. However SLMC media secretary, Tuan Nazir is reported to have told media persons that his party is to lodge a complaint with the Fort Police regarding the unlawful search of the headquarters. SLMC has been contesting the east provincial council election in alliance with the main United National Party (UNP) under the UNP symbol.
