Tamil civilian reported missing in Colombo

A middle aged Tamil civilian resident of Weluvana road, Fatima Thoaddam in Dematogoda, has been missing since last week Thursday, the victim’s mother and sister stated in a complaint lodged at Dematagoda police station. They have also reported this incident to Upcountry People's Front (UPF) parliamentarian and Sri Lankan Deputy Minister for Vocational Training and Industrial Education, P. Rathakrishnan.

The victim is identified as Antony Jackson, 41, a bachelor employed in a meat stall in Kolonnawa.

Antony disappeared at about 4:00 p.m. Thursday 17 April under mysterious circumstances, the victim’s mother Viyagula Mary and sister Chinnappan Scholastica told TamilNet.

“We have searched for him in a number of places including Welikada jail, all police stations in Colombo, and most of the major hospitals in the area, but we have not been able to obtain any information about my brother," Scholastica added.

“My brother left home on the day of disappearance to meet the owner of the meat stall in Kolonnawa. He occasionally suffers from epilepsy and he does not have any habits that will endanger his life, and also does not associate with people with suspicious background. There is no valid reason for him to be abducted or arrested,” she said.

The victim’ s sister has also lodged a complaint with N.K.Ilankakone, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police,
