Time bomb recovered at Galgamuwa bus stand

A time bomb found in an abandoned parcel at Galgamuwa bus stand in Kurunagala district in the northwestern province was recovered Monday morning about ten minutes before it went off, media sources reported quoting Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Jayantha Jayasinghe.
On receipt of information a police party rushed to Galgamuwa bus stand and recovered an abandoned parcel. The police then ordered members of public in the bus stand to stay away from the area. The police found on inspection a time bomb set off to explode at 6.30 am was inside the parcel. Immediately the bomb disposal squad of the Sri Lanka Army arrived at the site and deactvitated it thus averting a major disaster, police sources said. The police and SLA thereafter conducted a cordon and search in the area, sources said.
