Family man reported missing in Vadamaraadchi

A family man from Puloali south in Vadmaraadchi is reported missing since Monday after going to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) civil administration office near his house to obtain pass (travel permit) to go to Colombo, according to complaint lodged by his wife to Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna office Tuesday. Neighbours who had seen the missing man entering the SLA office said that he did not come out of the office, the wife said in her complaint to HRC.
The missing man is Kunarathinam Sivapatham, 32, a toddy tapper by profession and the father of 4 children from Chingkainakar, Puloali south in Vadamaraadchi. Sivapatham, seeking employment abroad due to his poverty had gone to the SLA office to obtain the necessary pass to travel to Colombo. He had also taken a considerable amount of money with him to the SLA office, his wife said in the complaint. Efforts to ring to his cell phone failed to reach him, she said.
