2 Tamil civilians abducted in Puththa'lam, Modera

Two Tamil civilians one, in Puththa'lam and other in Modera in Colombo, were abducted in two separate incidents, according to complaints lodged by their relatives with the Puththa'lam Police and Modera Police, media sources reported.
Navaratnam Balachchandran, 38, father of three children was abducted by unidentified armed men came in a white van bearing No: FX0640 Thursday morning when he was going for work. Balachandran is a native of Kadduvan in Thellipazhai in Jaffna district and had been residing in Puththa'lam Salt Welfare centre. Mariampillai Joseph Navaratnam, 23, was abducted by unidentified armed men came in a white van without number plate identifying them as police personnel coming from Modera police on Wednesday morning at his work place at Kadiranawatte at Modera. Navaratnam had been residing at Crow Island in the area. He lost his wife and children in 2004 tsunami, sources said. Relatives of the both abducted civilians have also lodged complaints with the Peoples Monitoring Committee based in Colombo.
