Tamil lodge owner shot dead in Colombo

Unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike shot dead a lodge owner in Kathireasan Road in Pettah, Colombo, Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., sources in Colombo said. The victim was standing in front of the lodge facing the road when the gunmen fired at him.

The victim identified as S Muththaiyaapillai, 56, was the owner of Balaaji Lodge.

The killing took place 50 meters from where Sri Lanka Police and Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were stationed on security duty, witnesses said.
