Tamil civilian shot dead in Trincomalee

A Tamil youth was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Ganesh Lane, a suburb in Trincomalee town Wednesday night around 8.40 p.m. in his house. He had been a resident of Vaazhaichcheanai in Batticaloa district and was employed as a conductor in a private sector passenger bus plying between Batticaloa-Trincomalee, civil sources said.

The victim's body was taken to Trincomalee general hospital for postmortem and magisterial inquest.

Trincomalee Police has been conducting inquiry into the killing, sources said.
