Two policemen killed, another injured in Batticaloa

Two police constables were killed, and another injured in two separate shooting incidents Thursday afternoon 7:15 p.m. in Kalladi and Thaandvenwe’li, Batticaloa, sources said.
Police constable M.W. Peter, 33, was killed and another injured when unidentified men opened fire near Telecom Junction, Thaandvenwe’li. The injured constable K.Ajith, 28, has been admitted at Batticaloa hospital. The two police men had come from Batticaloa to attend to personal matters when they were targeted. The victims are assigned duty at the People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) office in Batticaloa, sources added. In a separate incident, another police officer, M.Amirthalingam, 31, on duty near Kalladi Bridge was shot and killed by unidentified men. Kallady is located 2 km South East of Batticaloa, and Thaandvenwe’li is located 1 km East of Batticaloa. .
