[TamilNet, Saturday, 07 June 2008, 01:57 GMT]
Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) refused permission to twenty nine Tamil families to resettle in their village Naavalady in Moothoor division in Trincomalee district. These families displaced from Naavalady in 2006 military operation have been sheltered in a welfare centre in Moothoor town, civil society sources in Trincomalee said.
A non-governmental organization (NGO) took steps to resettle these families in their own village. A team of officials of the NGO recently went to Naavalady to make necessary arrangement for resettlement. They were told by officials of the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) stationed in the village that Naavalady had been declared security zone and no resettlement is allowed. The said NGO has been taking steps to settle the families in another village Raalkulzhi, which is also located in Moothoor DS division.
