Decapitated body of male found in Kayts

A young family man’s body with his head cut off separately was found Wednesday morning near the Little Flower School at Nerugnchiyadi, Churuvil in Oorkaavaththu'rai (Kayts), an islet of Jaffna, police said. The victim, originally from Visuvamadu in Ki'linochchi, was married to a woman in the islet four years ago and had been residing in Kayts since then, residents said.
The victim was identified as Pararajasingam Kugan, 33, the father of three children and a welder by profession. Kugan had not returned home after leaving his work place in Churuvil Tuesday evening, his wife who identified his body said. Kugan’s decapitatied body and head were found lying close to a war destroyed house near the Little Flower School in Churuvil. Ms. Joy Mahatheva, Kayts magistrate, after conducting inquiries at the place where the body lay directed Kayts police to hand over the body to Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary. The police handed over the body to Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary Wednesday evening.
