Abducted restaurant owner released

The owner of a restaurant abducted June 30 Monday night from Paduvaankarai within Palugaamam police division in Batticaloa district was released early morning Thursday, sources said.

The abductee, N.Vadivel, 35, is a married man from Vivekanatha Palugaamam.

Meanwhile, no details are available about the bakery owner, M.Somanathan (Soman), 35, a resident of Veeramcheanai, Palugaamam, abducted the same day from this area.

After the claymore attack in Aayththiamalai on June 23, the paramilitary cadres and Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops have been attacking and abducting those who were earlier members of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and leading normal life with their families, Paduvaankarai residents said.
