3 policemen, 2 civilians injured in Claymore attack in Ea’raavoor

A Claymore attack on the train from Batticaloa to Colombo Thursday around 8:15 p.m near Ea’raavoor Railway station injured three policemen and two civilians including a student. The train left Batticaloa Railway station at 7:30 p.m.
Selvakumar, 25 and Saruruvan, 26, two Tamil policemen and a Sinhalese policemen Gunawardne, 30, were injured in the attack. The student injured is Aseer, 16, and the other injured is Abdul Majeed, 30, a three wheeler driver. The injured were first rushed to Ea’raavoor District Hospital and later transferred to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital for further treatment. Sri Lanka Army(SLA) troops and police are engaged in a search operation in the area while the train bound to Colombo is stopped at Ea’raavoor Railway Station.
