White van involved in attack on Anuradhapura JVP offices

Thirteen election-related violent incidents have been reported from the North Central Province and Sabragamuwa Province since the closure of nominations for the provincial council election which has been fixed for August 23, according to complaints received by police election secretariat Tuesday. Of them two complaints had been related to the attacks made on the two offices of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) located in Anuradhapura town in the north central province on Monday night.
JVP leadership in Anuradhapura town in its complaints to police said unidentified armed persons arrived in white vans had attacked their offices on Monday night. Armed persons had threatened the occupants of the JVP offices to withdraw from the electioneering and caused damages to building, further stated in the complaints. Of the nine violent incidents reported from the north western province, eight had taken place in Anuradhapura district and only one from Polonnaruwa district. Five violent incidents had been reported from Sabragamuwa province, police sources said
