Two civilians disappear in 48 hours in Jaffna

Two men from different suburbs in Jaffna peninsula on their way to work disappeared during the first two days of the week under suspicious circumstances, and are believed to have been abducted, according to complaints lodged by their relatives at the Jaffna office of Human Rights Commission (HRC), sources said.
A young family man, a daily wage earner from Nirchchaamam, Sangaanai, in Valigaamam area, left home for work Monday but has not returned home, his wife told the HRC officials in a complaint lodged Wednesday. The victim is identified as Ratnasingham Keeran, 22. An elderly man from Ramalingam Road, Thirunelvely, disappeared Tuesday, while proceeding to his place of work, his relatives stated in the complaint lodged with HRC office in Jaffna. The victim identified as Thambiayah Sithamparapillai, 61, is a father of four children.
