PA discusses package with India

The consultant to Sri Lanka's ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Dr.Jayampathy Wickremaratna, is currently in Delhi to discuss with Indian officials , the devolution package of the People's Alliance government in Colombo said sources close to him.

The ministry is now busy preparing the bill for the constitutional amendments required for making the PA's scheme for regional autonomy law they said.

The sources hinted that the devolution package will be drafted as a bill and presented to the Sri Lankan Parliament next month.

However, they declined to comment either on the exact nature of Dr.Jayampathy's discussions with Indian government officials or on the purpose of his mission to India at this juncture.
