Family man shot dead in Kaaraitheevu in Ampaa’rai

Unidentified armed men shot and killed a Tamil family man Saturday around 12:30 p.m in Kaaraitheevu area in Chammaanththu’rai police division in Ampaa’rai district, in front of his mother’s house, sources in Kaaraitheevu said.

The victim was identified as Suntharam Kathiresu alias Siva, 30, the father of a child and a resident of Vish’nu Viththiyaalaya Veethi, Naavatkaadu in Kaaraitheevu 7.

The killers shot and killed Kathiresu who had gone to his mother’s house after attending a funeral, in the front yard of his mother’s house, using a 9mm gun.

The body is kept at Kaaraitheevu hospital and Chammaanththu’rai police are investigating into the killing.

Sri Lanka Special Task Force (STF) controls Kaa’raitheevu area and the office of the paramilitary-cum-polical party, the TMVP, is located close to the place where the killing took place.
