2 civilians shot dead in two separate incidents in Jaffna

Three unidentified armed men shot and killed Tuesday around 9:00 a.m a trader in front of his shop at Karaveddi in Vadamaraadchi while in a separate shooting two unidentified gun men arriving on a motorcycle shot and killed an employee of a video rental shop in Yoakapuram area in Urumpiraay around 10:30 a.m,.
The trader killed was identified as Gnanenthiran Parthipan, 34, originally from Chaavakachcheari in Thenmaraadchi living in Kodikaamam Veethi, Karaveddi since 2000. The killers had called Parthipan out of his shop and opened rapid fire on him before escaping on motor cycles towards Nelliyadi town, eyewitnesses said. Nelliyadi police recovered his body and handed it over to Manthikai government hospital mortuary. Meanwhile, two armed men arriving on a motorcycle shot and killed an employee of a video rental shop in Yoakapuram area in Urumpiraay around 10:30 a.m Tuesday. The victim was identified as Rasukuddi Chandramohan, 22, a resident of Yoakapuram in Karaveddi. The killers arriving on a motorcycle had first asked about the owner of the video rental shop before opening fire on Chandramohan. Koappaay police recovered his body and handed it over to Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary. Yoakapuram is located close to the Liberation Tigers’ Koappay Heroes’ Resting Home. On Sunday two civilians were shot and killed in two separate incidents in Jaffna.
