CaFFE says violence on the increase in SPC, NCPC elections

Independent monitoring group- Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) said Sunday that violence and misuse of state properties are on the increase during electioneering to the elections to the Sabragamuwa Provincial Council (SPC) and North Central Provincial Council (NCPC) which are scheduled to be held on August 23.
CaFFE media spokesman Keerthi Tennekone said his group has received 18 complaints against violence from the north central province (15 from Anuradhapura district and 03 from Polonnaruwa district) and 13 from Sabragamuwa province (10 from Kegalle district and 03 from Ratnapura district) till Sunday evening. He added his group also has received 21 complaints alleging misuse of state properties for electioneering and 51 complaints against the violation of election law during that period.
