STF units caught in crossfire in Ampaa'rai - LTTE

Two units of Sri Lankan Special Task Force (STF) commandos, who were deployed in a search operation, after an STF commando was slain on Tuesday in a LTTE laid booby trap at Udumpangku'lam in Kagnchikudichchaa'ru area, were caught in cross fire with each other Wednesday morning around 8:00 a.m., killing 3 STF commandos and wounding 4, according to LTTE sources in Kagnchikudichchaa'ru.
Meanwhile, the villagers who were engaged in agriculture complained that they were assaulted by the STF commandos after the cross-fire episode. Sri Lankan Police, when contacted denied reports of internal crossfire. The booby trap explosion, which took place around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, also caused injuries to 3 STF commandos, informed sources in Ampaa'rai said.
