The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), which attacked Vaddakkaachchi, 3 km east of
Ki'linochchi town Wednesday morning while claiming that it targeted a 'high profile hideout' of the Tigers, dropped bombs on a densely populated settlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IPDs) on Hudson Road, wounding two, a 14-year-old boy and a father of three. A 15-year-old girl fainted as her father sustained injuries.
One house and four temporary shelters were completely destroyed in the indiscriminate air-strike.Residents complained that Colombo had begun indiscriminate bombardment, as feared earlier, disrupting the fleeing from seeking safer areas, after it instructed the foreign aid workers to vacate Vanni. The father who sustained critical injuries was identified as S. Mahendran. He was rushed to Vaddakkachchi hospital and later transferred to Ki'linochchi hospital. His daughter, M. Kanakampikai, was taken to hospital in a fainted state. The 14-year-old boy, Malar Rajan Anushan, was recently displaced from Akkaaraayan to Hudson Road in Vaddakkachchi. The family of the victims who were killed in the air attack on 155 Mile Post on Tuesday had also relocated to the location which was bombed Wednesday morning, the residents said.
