Corpse of missing Aaraiyampathi goat trader identified

A highly decomposed corpse of a male, found washed ashore Friday evening on the beach along Ninthavoor Hospital Road in Chammaanthu'rai in Ampaa'rai district, was identified Saturday as the dead body of one of the two goat traders, reported missing in Kaaththaankudi when they went there on business purpose.

A brother-in-law of the goat trader identified the victim as 25-year-old Kanesamuthali Sukanthan, a resident of Aaraiyampathi. He has been reported missing since 18 September.

The body, washed ashore Friday around 4:30 p.m, was found with its hand and legs tied and was handed over to Kalmunai Base Hospital Saturday.

The fate of the other trader, who accompanied Sukanthan, is not known.
