Police arrest 31 civilians in Vaazhaichcheanai

Thirty one civilians were taken into custody Wednesday morning during a cordon and search operation conducted jointly by Vaazhaichcheanai police and Sri Lanka army (SLA) troops in Vinaayakapu'ram area within Vaazhaichcheanai police division.

During the search operation which lasted from early morning 5:30 a.m. till 11:00 a.m., all the houses in the area were subjected to intense search.

All residents including females were interrogated, and thirty one civilians, all of them males were arrested, Vaazhaichcheanai police said.
