Slain female victim identified in Jaffna

The husband of the woman shot and killed Sunday in Nalloor identified her body as belonging to his wife, Srirangan Sumathi, 27, a mother of two children in Jaffna Teaching Hospital, sources in Jaffna said. Sumathi had been abducted by unknown armed men who had taken her to a deserted place along Naayanmaarkaddu Veethi where they shot and killed her, sources in Jaffna said.
Ms Sumathi is from Thunnalai North, Karaveddi, in Vadamaraadchi. Sumathi had left home Sunday early morning on her bicycle to Point Pedro
first and travelled to Jaffna for treatment in Jaffna Teaching Hospital. She had parked her bicycle in Point Pedro and travelled to Jaffna by bus, according to her husband, Sri Rangan. The identification documents, and valuables carried by Sumathi has been taken by the killers, sources said.
