Tamil family man shot dead in Batticaloa

Three unidentified armed men arriving on motor cycles at the house of a trader in Vavu’natheevu police division in Batticaloa disrict Friday around 7:30 p.m shot and killed the trader. Many Special Task Force (STF) camps and police stations are located in this area.
The trader shot and killed was identified as Singarasa Ramesbabu, 28, a father of 3 children who has his grocery shop Karaiyaakkantheevu in Kannangkudaa. Vavu’natheevu police who recovered the body and handed it over to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital are investigating into the killing. Many persons from this area who had earlier worked with Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are being killed by unidentified armed men. Residents of this area are living in fear as the killings continue unchecked by the law enforcing authorities located in the area.
