SLAF tickets issued tomorrowThe Sri Lanka Army (SLA)'s civil affairs office in Jaffna announced today that tickets for the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF)-run flight to Colombo will be issued tomorrow. Those who purchase tickets will be taken from the premises of Jaffna's disused railway station to the SLAF base in Palaly. Sources at the SLA's civil affairs office said today that the SLAF will operate only one flight a day to begin with.
PLOTE threatens revengeThe PLOTE's military wing leader, Maanikkadaasan said today that his organisation would take revenge against the Liberation Tigers for killing its Jaffna organiser, Satheesh. He said that Satheesh had not taken enough security precautions while moving about in the peninsula. The PLOTE military wing leader said that he will not reveal the details of the action that his organisation intends to take against the Tigers. Meanwhile Balakrishnan Vinayakamoorty, 23, who had been detained in the PLOTE camp at Hospital Road in Jaffna attempted on Sunday to commit suicide by setting himself alight. Balakrishnan had been detained by the PLOTE following a quarrel between him and his brother. He said he decided to commit suicide unable to withstand the torture at the camp. He has been admitted to the Jaffna hospital.
