Sri Lanaka armed forces in Trincomalee town have been put on red alert Monday
following the discovery of a lorry alleged to have been loaded with explosives near the residence of a police official of Trincomalee Harbour Police. Sri Lanaka armed forces suspect that LTTE cadres
had brought the explosive laden vehicle to commit a crime in the east port town, according to media sources in Colombo quoting Police Headquarters.
Meanwhile, areas where Sinhalese dominate in Trincomalee town and its
suburbs are gaily decorated with National (Lion) Flag to mark the 61st
Independence Day celebration and to celebrate the victory against LTTE in Vanni battle front, sources in Trincomalee said. The area surrounding the newly constructed
Trincomalee central bus stand and general market where the
controversial Buddha Statue also stands is also decorated with the National (Lion) Flag. Cutouts of the three commanders of the State armed forces, Sri Lanka Army (SLA), Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), and Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) can also be seen near the Clock Tower junction in Trincomalee town.
