Civilians warned against funding Tigers[TamilNet, Sunday, 07 February 1999, 19:44 GMT]The Jaffna Sri Lankan Security forces headquarters put out a press note this afternoon strictly warning civilians against affording assistance to the Liberation Tigers. The note which is in Tamil says that the LTTE intends to collect 10 million rupees in Jaffna and that the army is taking the necessary steps to prevent the Tigers from collecting this money. No one, according to the note, should give money or help or aid the actions of the Liberation Tigers. If anyone is found to be guilty of any of these he or she will be imprisoned for five to twenty years under No.843/12 of the emergency regulation 138 declared on November 4, 1994, warns the Jaffna Sri Lankan Security forces headquarters (JSLSFHQ) press note. The emergency declaration referred to in the JSLSFHQ communiqué this afternoon was done while the Sri Lankan Government was holding peace talks with the Liberation Tigers.
