Female warden of Eastern University recovered dead

Ea’raavoor police recovered Monday night the body of the female hostel warden in Eastern University and the Judicial Medical Officer who performed the post mortem examination of the body declared it was a case of suicide, sources in Ea’raavoor said. Relatives of the woman, however, said they suspect she had been murdered and accused the University administration for maintaining silence on this matter.

The victim was identified as Marimuthu Premalatha, 28, a resident of Kuruchchi 3, Ciththaa’ndi in Ea’raavoor police division, who had assumed duty three months ago.

The face of Premalatha’s body had finger nail scratches and a mosquito net was found tied around her neck attached to the door latch when the body was recovered from her room and this does not appear to be a suicide, the relatives said.

An incident of this nature taking place in the Eastern University which is under security measures imposed by the Police Superintendent has caused shock among the residents of the area.
