The Batticaloa-Amparai section of the Liberation Tigers' political wing put up large printed posters in the Batticaloa district this morning. Posters appeared in Sri Lankan Army (SLA) controlled towns, including Valaichenai and Eravur, and areas in the northern part of the district.
The posters also appeared in all parts of the district's hinterland that are under the control of the Liberation Tigers. The poster showed a cartoon about Tamil paramilitaries operating with the SLA. The four part cartoon is titled 'The actions of the Paramilitaries' ('Ottuppadaiyin Seyal') The first section of the cartoon shows a dog standing with its forelegs placed on a prostrate Tamil civilian, holding a gun aloft in its paw. The second is titled 'The traitor's reward' ('Thurohikku Sanmaanam'). It shows the SLA throwing some bones to the dog firing indiscriminately with its gun. In the third part, the dog lies looking hungrily at the path wondering "wont a Tamil come this way, so (I can) fill my stomach ?" ('Vaiyitrai Kaluwa oru Thamilan varamaattaana'). The fourth cartoon is titled "The wretchedness of the traitor" ('Thurohiyin Avalam'). In this, an SLA soldier is shown seizing the dog's gun and beating it up with the weapon.
