Trinco mourns death of Varsha, one suspect shot dead, other commit suicide

Many schools were closed in Trincomalee city on Wednesday to mourn the death of a six year old student Miss Varsha Jude Reggie. Students did not attend schools. She was abducted on March 11 Wednesday morning from Trincomalee St.Mary’s College in a three wheeler by an unidentified person. Later her body was found in a fertilizer bag dumped in a drain in the heart of Trincomalee city last Friday noon.

Meanwhile two suspects arrested along with four others were died while in police custody.

Police said one suspect O’Brien Reno Shan was shot dead by the police when he attempted to escape from the custody while being taken to the site where the student was murdered.

The second suspect Janarthanan Thursday evening March 19, committed suicide when he was being taken to a place for inquiry by the police according to Trincomalee police.
