A 26 year-old married Tamil woman was abducted Thursday afternoon in Mabola area, Wattala in Colombo district by a group of unidentified men who came in a three-wheeler while she was having a conversation with her co-employees at a bus halt, according to the complaint lodged by her husband S.Thevamanoharan with the Wattala police on Friday.

The victim isidentified as Thevamanoharan Pushparanee, a resident of Telthota in Kandy district.

Her husband is a resident of Matugama in upcountry. Both got married recently and have been working in a private establishment in Colombo.

On the day of the incident Pushparanee went for work as usual. Later a woman known to her had asked her to come out of the work place to have a chat. Pushparanee was engaged in a conversation, when a three wheeler arrived at the scene.

Unidentified persons forcibly took her away in the three -wheeler, the complaint states.

Pushparanee's abduction comes on the same day as of the abduction of a Muslim youth in Colombo. Abductions continue unabated in the Colombo district despite the strict security measures enforced and tight control of Sri Lankan Armed Forces.
