Sri Lanka Police arrests 8 Tamils in Colombo

Eight Tamil civilians were arrested in Grandpass area in Colombo Wednesday night and were detained in police station for further interrogation in regard to the recovery of eighteen claymore mines from a motor workshop in the area, according to police sources.
Police said the recent haul was the largest cache of claymore mines recovered in Colombo recently. On receipt of information a police team rushed to the site with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army bomb disposal squad and unearthed the cache of claymore mines buried inside the motor workshop. Thereafter the police and the SLA conducted cordon and search operation in and around Grandpass area. The SLA soldiers and Police questioned several residents of the area and took eight Tamil civilians into custody, police said.
