51 Moothoor IDP families return to Killiveddy

Two hundred and one members of fifty one Tamil families who were displaced from Moothoor east three years ago following a military operation launched on their traditional villages by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), and who stayed in temporary shelters located in Maavadivembu and Palachcholai in Batticaloa district, were brought to Killiveddy via Vaaharai Tuesday morning in seven buses of the government transport service with state security, sources said.
Earlier the families were not willing to return to their villages in Moothoor. Monday they boarded the buses without any opposition, divisional office sources said. 266 members of 56 families were brought to Killiveddy via Vaaharai on June 16 by force by state authorities against their wishes from Kirimutti Farm camp in Batticaloa district. They were sheltered in a transit camp in Manalchchenai on Moothoor division, sources said.
