Over hundred Tamils arrested in Kandy ; Two Sri Lankan Army soldiers were wounded in Jaffna today and One SLA soldier, two Tigers were killed in a clash at Oddusuddan on Saturday.
Massive search operation in KandyMore than hundred Tamils were arrested in Kandy today by the Police during cordon and search operation in the hill town. Sources said that the Police had blocked off roads and checked pedestrians and shops during the operation. The arrested Tamils were herded this evening to the Kandy Police station. All have been detained.
Two SLA soldiers woundedTwo Sri Lankan Army (SLA) soldiers were injured at the Navatkuly checkpoint on the outskirts of Jaffna this morning around 10 a.m. when a grenade hidden in a bag of dried Palmyra seeds went off. Sources said that an old man had brought the bag on his bicycle. The area was searched but the old man could not be detected they said.
LTTE-SLA clash at OdusuddanTwo Liberation Tigers and a SLA soldier were killed in a clash at Oddusuddan in the Vanni on Saturday, said the Voice of Tigers (VoT) radio. Another SLA soldier was wounded in the incident, the radio added. According to the radio, following Tigers were killed in the clash: Cpt. Arulnesan (Vinayakamoorthy Yogeswaran of Kanakapuram; Killinochchi) and Maj. Thaniyan (Kathirkamanathan Kumarathevan of Jaffna).
