Two Up-Country Tamil girls reported missing in Colombo

Two Up-Country Tamil girls who were brought to Colombo from Maskeliya in Nuwara Eliya district as domestic aids are reported missing. The parents of the two girls have lodged a complaint with P. Radakrishnan, deputy vocational and technical training minister, who represents the Upcountry People’s Front (UPF).
The girls, 19-year-old Muniyandi Meghana and Shakthivel Sangeetha, were brought to Colombo seven months ago by an agent and handed over to a house at Battaramulla, a suburb of Colombo. On August 8, when the parents visited the house in Battaramulla where the girls were working, the parents were told that the girls will be sent back on the 28 of the same month, but up to date they have not returned home and parents are unable to trace the whereabouts of the girls. The parents have also lodged a complaint with Norwood and Ganemulla police stations.
