Renewed SLA operation in Mannar

Fighting is reported between the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) and the Liberation Tigers in Parappukkadanthan, 7 km. north of Uylankulam, in the island's northwestern district of Mannar.

According to initial reports, the fighting erupted when SLA attempted to advance north from its positions in the Murunkan area, north of Uylankulam, this morning.

SLA troops at the Thallady camp have been firing mortars towards the Parappukkadanthan area, sources said.
