Suntharalingam Thayaparan, a resident of Ki'linochchi , currently
residing in Ne’lukkul’am in Vavuniyaa after being released from Menik
Farm internment camp on October 26 has lodged a complaint with the
regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) to trace his wife Veni alias Arunthathi who was taken to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital by the Sri Lanka Army in a helicopter for treatment to her head injuries caused due to the artillery fire in the last leg of military operation in Vanni region.
He said in his complaint that he with his wife and son Anujan were
residing in Depot Junction in Ki’linochchi. Due to the military
operation launched by the SLA he took his family to Maththa’lan in
Mullaiththeevu district where they took shelter in a bunker close
to Pi’l’laiyaar Temple. But his wife was injured in the artillery attack. She was admitted next day at Mu'livaaikkaal hospital. SLA soldiers who visited the hospital took him and his wife with them leaving his little son with his mother-in-law. Later the SLA soldiers left him in Oamanthai and took his wife in a helicopter to Anuradhapura for treatment. He with his mother –in-law later sought refuge in Menik Farm zone-4 camp. On October 26 he was released from Menik Farm. Since then he has launched a search to locate his wife in camps located in Cheddiku’lam, Poonththoaddam, Pulmoaddai and hospitals in Vavuniyaa, Kandy, and Anuradhapura. But he had failed to trace his wife anywhere.
