The Governor of Northern Province and former Jaffna district Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Commander, Major Gen. G. A. Chandrsiri, issued an order Wednesday calling all the government servants who had been serving in the districts of Mullaiththeevu and Ki’linochchi in war torn Vanni to immediately report for duties at the IDP camps in Vavuniyaa, in a meeting held in Trincomalee with the heads of the government departments, sources in Vavuniyaa said.
The salary paid to the above government servants now will be stopped and their jobs suspended if they failed to report for duties immediately, the order further said. The government servants were unable to continue their respective duties due to the war but had been paid their salaries until now. As it is clear that the IDPs from Ki’linochchi and Mullaiththeevu districts are not going to be resettled in their own places in the near future, the government is planning to attend to the administrative affairs and educational activities of the two districts in the camps, using these government servants.
