Presidential election to be held first

The extra- ordinary gazette notification announcing the decision of the government to hold the Presidential Election next year ahead of parliamentary election is to be released midnight Monday. The gazette notification is now being printed by the government press, political sources in Colombo said Monday evening.

The Commissioner of Elections will decide the date for calling nominations and the date for the election once he receives the said gazette notification, sources further said.
