3rd pre-election related murder reported from Wariayapola

A group of unidentified persons believed to supporters of the ruling
United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Sunday night killed a person
while he was pasting posters in support of common presidential
candidate General Sarath Fonseka in Ambakawela in Wariayapola area in
Kurunagala district.
The dead person has been identified as 33
year-old Dhammika Heart, a businessman of the area and a son of a
former Principal of Amakawara Vidiylaya. The dead with some UNP supporters were pasting posters in support of
General Fonseka were attacked with iron rods by eight UPFA supporters
who arrived at the site on motor bikes. Others had managed to escape
the attack, but the dead person had failed to escape. Police arrested
five suspects in this connection. The body of the dead was handed over
to the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital for postmortem and inquest,
