Eastern University to resume suspended functions

The suspended educational activities of the students of all the faculties of Eastern University will commence from 22 March, Acting Vice-chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Premkumar said to media. The decision to resume educational activities was taken by the University Senate as normalcy is restored, he added.

The educational activities had been suspended on 10 March due to clashes between two student groups and politically motivated students threatening the VC to resign his post, sources in Batticaloa said.

Premkumar told media that a new time table has been drawn to conduct the examinations postponed due to the suspension of educational activities and added that he has been temporarily assigned with the VC post.
