Ex-Tigers asked to register

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) announced over loud hailers in Thadchanamaruthamadu yesterday that all former members of the Liberation Tigers now resident in this area should report to its camp immediately.
The army said that today is the last day for ex-members of the LTTE to register themselves at the local camp. Persons who left the Liberation Tigers ten years ago, married and settled down were also instructed to report to the army camp in the Madhu area for registration. Many of those who had dropped out of the LTTE more than a decade ago have drawn the attention of the Madhu clergy to their plight. The SLA says that screening and keeping track of ex-Tigers is necessary because some of them may still be having covert links or could be reactivated by the organisation.
