4 upcountry women commit suicide in two days

Four upcountry Tamil women have committed suicide Wednesday and Thursday according to reports from Bogawanthalawa. Three of them are residents of Bogawanthalawa and one from Pusselawa, police said.

Three women committed suicide Wednesday.

The body of a 30-year-old woman was recovered with severe burns from a house. The police suspect that she had been burnt to death.

A 35-year-old woman committed suicide by taking poison.

In the third incident, a 20-year-old woman was found hanging from the beam of the house.

The fourth incident took place Thursday noon in Pusellawa. A girl student of Pusellawa Saraswathi Maha Vidiyalayam committed suicide by hanging.

Bogawanthalawa and Pusellawa Police have been conducting inquiries into the suicides.
