Six reported missing in Mannar

Six youth arrested by a group of unidentified armed men in the heart of Mannar town on April 25 are still reported missing said sources in Mannar today. The Sri Lankan security forces in Mannar had told relatives of the missing youth that they did not arrest or detain them.

The sources said that the six youth:

A.Justin Cruz, K.Murali, S.Rajes, Reggie, Navaratnam and Rajah, were taken into custody by the armed group in Moor Street and Main Street around 1 p.m. on April 25. Justin Cruz was arrested at the Sonia Lodge on Main Street in Mannar.

The armed group that had arrested Cruz had told the lodge owners that it was from the Counter Subversive Unit (CSU) of the Police department.

The CSU, however, had told relatives that it did not take Cruz into custody.

The youth's sister has sougt the Mannar ICRC delegation's assistance to find him said sources.
