EPDP suspect in killing of student released on bail

Jaffna High Court released on bail Thursday Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) Thenmaraadchi organizer Allexander Soosaimuthu alias Charles, a suspect in the killing of student Thiruchelvam Kapilnath in Chaavakachcheari, detained in Jaffna prison. The magistrate ordered the suspect not to leave the country and to sign at Jaffna police station every Sunday, sources in Jaffna said.
The petition seeking Charles' release was first filed in Chaavakachcheari court and then directed to Jaffna High Court by the magistrate. Charles was released on two personal sureties worth Rs. 100,000. The Department of Immigration and Emigration has been notified of the conditional bail allowed to the suspect. Earlier, Chaavakachcheari magistrate K. Pirabakaran 03 May had ordered suspect Charles arrested for suspected involvement in the abduction and killing of student Kapilnath and for allegedly threatening Chaavakachcheari magistrate K. Pirabakaran, to be placed in remand prison, when he was produced in Chaavakachcheari court.
