Blasts destroy two transformers in Colombo

Sri Lankan Police said two transformers were destroyed by blasts believed to have been caused by bombs in the Colombo city in the early hours of the morning today and yesterday night.
A transformer at Shrubbery Gardens in Bambalapitiya Police area was blasted around 1.30 this morning. The electricity supply to about fifty houses was disrupted. Last night a transformer at Issipathana Mawatte in Narahenpity was destroyed. The electricity supply to large number of homes in the area were interrupted. The Police said five youths have been arrested in connection with the blast in Narahenpity. They said the youth were not residents of the area. The Bambalapitiya Police said that no one had been arrested in connection with the blast at Bambalapitiya. Both transformers were completely destroyed in the explosions.
