A 10 year old boy was killed and two others were wounded yesterday in Minukkar in Adampan due shelling from Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp at Thallady in Mannar. The shelling which began around 6.30 p.m. lasted about 30 minutes. Two detained during search operation The Sri Lanka Army detained Rajenthiram Rajkumar, 28, and Vettivel Veeravahu, 50, yesterday during a search operation at Maaniyavalai, Chempiyanpattu in Vadamaradchi East. Both of them were taken to the Maamunai SLA camp. Local residents said that Rajenthiram was blind folded and beaten up at the camp. Both of them were later released on condition that they report to the camp today. The SLA has confisicated their National Identity Cards.
Police deployed in force in VavuniyaPolice personnel have been deployed at key junctions in Vavuniya today after the killing at Kurumankaadu yesterday and the bomb explosion in front of a PLOTE camp this morning. Meanwhile, PLOTE sources said that a time bomb fixed to one of its abandoned sentry point in front of the camp might have caused the explosion.
